Living or Living with Purpose? How do you know? Can you really find purpose?
Reflection & Perspective…. 2 BIG Questions and extra helpful reflection questions, hints and tips.
As 2014 winds down, it is a great time to evaluate the year’s events and where we are in life and plan for the upcoming year. It’s a great time to ask yourself am I living or living with purpose? Is there a difference? I say, YES!
Perspective and Reflection
Vital to living vs. living with purpose is honest reflection. It can help determine how you feel, what you think, and how you react.
TWO Big questions to reflect on.
1. Are you surviving, going through life’s motion and just living?
OR
2. Are you living with purpose and fulfilling your purpose joyfully?
How do you know the difference? Perspective and reflection.
Some reflective questions to help you determine if you are #1 living or #2 living with purpose
1. Ask yourself what your purpose is in life?
If you don’t know then you are in #1.
2. Ask yourself if you are living your purpose fully?
If the answer is no or sort of, then you are in #1.
3. Are you happy and joy filled?
If not, why not?
You may be in a slump of life or not aligned with your purpose.
If you can say 110% I am living my purpose and am completely fulfilled and aligned with my goals in life then you are in #2. Congratulations, that is awesome & I wish you continued joy and bliss!
If you think hmmm, I’m not living my purpose or completely fulfilled. Isn’t that just life?
I ask THE question – What is the payoff and cost of what you ARE you doing with your life? Why?
Reflective question - In 5 (10, 20, 50..you fill in the blank) years will you be happy with what you are doing and where you are and how you lived your life? Key here is living with no regrets.
Ready for ONE Change?
If you are not living with purpose or fulfilled and you are ready for a change….
Think of ONE change that you could make to get you closer to finding a purpose, living a fulfilled life, less stress, more joyful, or happier life.
You can make more changes and write a whole list of changes you’d like to make for extra credit
The key is to pick one – the one with the biggest payoff.
NOW is the time to commit to ONE change. Pick ONE thing you can change that will get you either closer to finding a purpose and MAKE that change in 2015.
Tips to keeping your change.
1. Write it down & post it where you can see it daily.
2. Write down the cost of NOT making this change and the pay off of making this change in your life.
a. This will help you remember why you wanted to make this change when it’s more difficult to keep your commitment to the change.
3. Ask a trusted person to help you be accountable and/or cheer you on.
4. Plan a celebration when that change is a positive habit and you are ready for the next change.
YOU CAN DO IT! I know you can. I wish you a blessed Merry Christmas and Happy Holiday Season.
