My spring-cleaning has changed from those days of closet cleaning and clearing out toys to a deeper life cleaning. This stage of life, I’m working on internal cleaning for a better quality of life. My cleaning is focused on better health, effective productivity, living more conscious, and deepening relationships. (Yes, we still clean but it’s certainly not a priority)
Here are 7 Steps for Cleaning Your Life

Consider your life areas
- Here’s a link to Your Wheel of Life – Balanced or Bumpy? a tool to support you through this process.
- Life areas like: health (emotional, physical, spiritual) relationships, financial, recreation, work, personal growth, etc. Pick what YOUR areas of life are.

Which ONE area needs some cleaning, sorting, pruning, growth, or organization?
- How do you know what area that might be?
- Thinking of the area makes you cringe, denial, anger, fear, or happy excitement. It is not neutral there’s emotion related to it.
- Yes, for you type A folks you can pick one or two.

Now take a long moment to really just sit and be with this area in your life.
- Let all the thoughts come and go about this area.
- Acknowledge the thoughts and internal voices both positive & negative.
- Once you’ve gotten that over initial conversation in your head and feel some peace and are ready to move on go to step 4.

Now consider what do you want and need in this area.
- Is it organization, a quick dusting, deep cleaning, growth, removal?
- Not SHOULD – we don’t SHOULD all over ourselves.
- Think of the best outcome you can imagine for this area.
- This can now be your focus and something to work towards

How will you make this happen?
- Do you need to clean or tighten something?
- Form new habits, things to do, something to remove or add, change?
- Take time to write down HOW you can make this happen, steps to take, be creative.

Now just pick one thing from your list and pick a date to do it or have it completed by.
- Just one
- My type A folks you probably already made a to do list and color-coded it. You go.
- For the rest of us - simply put that date on your calendar on your phone and set a reminder.

Plan a celebration when you have your area cleaned!
- Type A’s please pause, celebrate BEFORE you go to you next area
