Benefits of setting clear intentions
- Compass - sets your compass and provides a path to move forward. By having clear intentions, you know what you want and which way to go.
- Promotes action – motivates us to take actions and move past our blockers.
- Achievement – by taking we move forward on reaching our goals and what we want. It builds our sense of confidence and achievement.
- Aligned Values – intentions are often aligned with our values. When our values are aligned with our behaviors, we have better well-being through fulfillment.
How to craft crystal clear intentions:
- Be specific and crystal clear
- The more specific and clear your intentions are, the clearer the path ahead is to follow.
- Examples: I will walk my dog daily for at least 40 minutes daily, I will write out three things I’m grateful for at the end of the day, or I intend to see balance in my work and life by checking in with myself at least weekly.
- Value Aligned Intentions
- Explore your key core values and intentions. Look for synergy between them. Alignment will help you remember your why and purpose of this intention.
- Positively Written
- Intentions are to be written with what we want vs. what we don’t want or “should” want. Positivity also sets us up for a resilient and motivated mindset that propels us towards our intentions.
- Vision of Success
- Take a moment to visualize what the outcome of your intentions will be for you. Engage your senses and create a vision with rich detail. Having a vision cements your intention and provides motivation and allows the universe to act on your intention.
How to Keep Intentions Top of Mind
- Check in regularly and reflect on your intentions
- Review and reflect on your intentions
- Review without emotion, judgement, or shame
- Get curious?
- How is it going overall?
- Are you moving forward on them?
- What has come to fruition?
- What might be getting in the way?
- How are the aligning with your values?
- How are they right for you at this time of life?
- Adjust and reframe as needed
- If your intentions are no longer lining up with your needs or where you are right now – adjust them
- If something is blocking you – how might you move around this blocker?
- Reframe or delete the intention if it no longer serves
- Be intentional and mindful
- Remind yourself of your intentions – post them where you can see them daily – post it note, expo on your mirror, reminder on device, etc.
- Be mindful and intentional about doing things that help them come to fruition
- Stay focused on why they are important and how they align with your values
- Celebrate and acknowledge each win – small & large
- Acknowledge and celebrate every micro step you make – this helps your brain to want more of this and then more happens to celebrate!
- Boots your belief, confidence, and commitment to your intentions
Crafting clear intentions with mindful awareness is a powerful practice. When you are crystal clear in your intentions it supports you living mindfully and with awareness. You’re well-being and sense of meaning and mattering are likely to increase as well.
