Often in life when things just keep knocking us down again and again we can get stuck or become apathetic. It might sound like, “Why bother?, I’ll just get knocked down again, it won’t work, not worth my energy or time.”

One can become stuck in this apathy and just stay down and find comfort in the moment. It takes courage to get back up and be willing to try again. Maybe even get knocked down again.
Brene’ Brown gives a great example, “I want to be in the arena. I want to be brave with my life. And when we make the choice to dare greatly, we sign up to get our asses kicked. We can choose courage or we can choose comfort, but we can’t have both. Not at the same time.”
So, what do you want comfort or courage?
If you’re ready to get up and want to be courageous then…
Get Up!
That’s the first step – deciding to get up and off the ground.
The next step is to take action.
Ideally a planned response sort of action versus a knee jerk reaction.
How to Take Action
1. Determine the intention and action you wish to take
2. Break the action in to attainable mini goals
3. SMART goals – Specific, Measurable, Attainable, Realistic and Timebound
4. Plan for getting goals accomplished – keep it simple
a. Plan a schedule
b.Time block so you have time to work on goals and actions
5. Mindfully eliminate distractions from actions and goals
6. Don’t overthink or over analyze
7. Take action – Do the work towards to goal
8. Be accountable to self – share with others
9. Review mini goals along the way
10. Acknowledge and celebrate each mini goal you achieve – you are doing it!!
11. Keep doing and taking actions!!
If you keep doing and taking actions before you know it you’re back up and moving forward. That’s a resiliency skill and you’ve successfully gotten back up after getting knocked down.
May you dare greatly and find courage to get back up EVERY time you get knocked down. Life has so much for you and the world needs you. Please get up & take action.
